Dr. Joseph  Ohens on Friday emerged unopposed as the Global President of his alma mater,  Annunciation Catholic College, Irrua Old Boys Association, ACCIOBA.


Dr Ohens, a United States of America USA-based administrator, legal practitioner and journalist would be leading an 11-member Executive Committee towards improvement of infrastructure, enhancement of   learning standards and drive for quality education  generally towards  surpassing  the academic excellence and reputation of the 70 years old all-boys College 


In his remarks shortly after inauguration of the Executive,  Ohens  promised to exploit his vast network to accelerate developmental drive  for  the College.


 Other members of the new  Executive include Barrister Emmanuel Ogbebor and Dr Paul Ihensekhein respectively the Global Vice-President  I and II; Dr Paul Ayobeore and Engr Ehis Okonofua respectively the Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General.


Others include Dr Michael Iyoriobhe, Treasurer; Victor Ebosele, Financial Secretary; Dr Monday Oseghale, Legal Adviser; Rawlings Oseghale, Auditor; Stephen Akhalu, Welfare; Thaddeus Uhomoibhi Public Relations Officer and Paul Ufuah Ex-Officio III.


 Ohens and the new ACCIOBA Executive would be inaugurated during a four-day event which  commenced  Thursday,  March 27 and will be concluded on Sunday March 30, 2025.


Old students of ACCIOBA has emerged as powerful chieftains in the economic and political corridors of power, not just in Edo State, but nationally and worldwide


ACCIOBA over the years have evolved the culture  of positioning the College as  the best academic  centre excellence  in post-primary education in Nigeria in the 21st century 


 The Alumni have over the years, built a well-decorated, road network within the school campus, they also built dormitories for students, health center facilities, a modern and standard library.


Before now, Dr. Ohens has served in several committees of ACCIOBA including the very tedious ACC Rebuild Committee, which has been transforming the school through several projects. 


A versatile journalist, Ohens bagged his first degree in law from the Lagos State University and also holds a Master of Law and Doctor of the Science of Law degrees from the esteemed University of California, Berkeley School of Law, USA.


 He currently serves as Senior Vice President and directly oversees his organization’s Compliance, Risk Management, Privacy, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Credentialing, and Peer Review programs, in California’s North Coast. Dr. Ohens serves as an adjunct professor of law, impacting knowledge in advanced legal writing and U.S. health systems and policy.


One of the highlights of the inauguration of the new Executive include the commissioning of the Academic Staff Quarters built by ACCIOBA, which will be performed by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo on March 29th, 2025. The Governor is also expected to commission the school’s medical center as well as ACC’s Center for Entrepreneurship, among others.


During the four-day programme which  began March 27 to March 30, 2025 to mark the Platinum Jubilee (70th Anniversary) of the school, besides the Old Boy's AGM, there will be tour of Projects, Novelty Football Match, and Finals of Inter-house Football competition at the school campus in Irrua. 


Besides the main event/swearing-in of the Executive which takes place on Saturday, March 29. There will also be a Party and Awards Night @ Gold Royale Event Center, Ekpoma. The event will be rounded off on Sunday, March 30 with a Thanksgiving Mass.


 NIJ  91/92 Alumni  Honour Esteemed Colleague

To honor their erstwhile classmate, the 91/92 alumni set of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ, Ikeja, Lagos, would be present at the event to honour Dr Ohens and also  use the event as a reunion of sorts.
